Chinese-born and American-raised, I’m a twenty-something recent college graduate trying to find my footing in New York City. Now with a Bachelor’s in Public Health Studies and Psychology under my belt and more than 40-hours-a-week job as a project coordinator at a major university, I’m still looking for that balance between work, my social life, figuring how to get into medical school, and still attempting to please my difficult Chinese parents. With the constant on-the-go routine of my daily life, I like to keep my maintenance routine as efficient as possible… though no matter what, I’ll alway make time to put on a fresh coat of polish. I’m a firm believer that if you believe something’s worth doing, make sure to do it like it’s worth doing, or don’t do it at all!

Style Profile: I’m a fan of subtle and understated looks: classic, elegant, and chic all at the same time with little modern twists of accessories and make up. Being comfortable is just as important to me as looking good, and I think it’s more than possible to have both. I think it’s better to have a few expensive things you love than to have many mediocre things you don’t, but that hasn’t limited the size of my wardrobe at all! I enjoy rocking my nude, neutral, and work-friend polish colours, but my collection of shiny greens and purples is just as big, and I love my everyday boots as much as I love a pair of pumps. A a curse of genetics, I have terrible skin which I inherited from my mother’s side, which involves a lot of breakouts for no reason, scarring, and me making grumpy faces at the mirror… For that reason, I’m pretty careful and conscious of the products I use due to general sensitivity. Having a good night creme is more important to me than the collection of lipstick at the drugstore.
I’m a twenty-something caffeine-stained, shoe-fawning, aesthetic-drawn, music-bleeding, island-born, academically-addicted blogger and website designer. I’ve recently moved back to Canada after living abroad in England during my academic pursuits and presently hold a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology, perhaps making me an unorthodox, overzealous, and eclectic personality for this form of enterprise. But my philosophy is that no matter your circumstances or occupation, whether you’re the head sales rep on the High Street or working in a high-security prison environment, there are few excuses not to look and feel your best each and every day. And let’s be honest, low maintenance – regardless of gender – always trumps no maintenance at all.

Skin Type: Normal; no concerns
Hair Colour: Naturally light brown; currently dyed a deep red-violet
Hair Type: Naturally curly; somewhat frizzy; frequently straightened; over-dyed
Eye Colour: Green-blue-gold
Things I Cannot Do Without: A Starbucks within a 10 mile radius, my iPhone (which, let’s face it, does everything but open cans), hair straightener (I prefer my hair not to channel Shirley Temple), emery board, and a pair of well-balanced high heels.
Favourite Colours: Black, red, beige, purple

Favourite Designers and Brands: Sam Edelman, Vivienne Westwood, Christian Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana, Lancôme, Givenchy, OPI, Silver Jeans
Style Profile: I love loud hair, loud shoes, loud nails, loud accessories, and shade-palette clothes. My style is perhaps best described as refined meets edgy. Dark skinny jeans, black leggings, long formfitting tops and sweaters, perhaps a black, fitted blazer. I don’t do sneakers or flats unless I’m straddling a bike or dying on a treadmill. To me, everything looks best with heels, 4 inches and higher, be it leather boots, pumps, or stilettos. To spice up an outfit, I love black leather or bright patent shoes, silver accessories, colourful scarves, and bright nail lacquer. Rarely do I entertain light coloured or nude polishes, but I live for a smooth black with good dimension. Makeup wise, I’m a fan of black eyeliner, mascara, and pale lips topped with some sheen – easy, quick, but dramatic. Powders, primers, and foundations I prefer to go without. If you have good skin, why not let it breathe.
