Glymm Box: December 2012
Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying yourselves as we near the end of 2012. I apologize for the lateness of these box reviews this month, but similar to my Topbox, my Glymm box didn’t arrive until Christmas Eve, and with the hecticness of the holidays, it was shelved until there was a lapse in the crazy. And by lapse in the crazy, I mean the sober ability to stay up until 3am and write a post. Whoops.
The postal service has also been brutally inaccurate these past two months, and while there is always holiday-induced disruption each year, this year I was receiving tracking slips with estimated arrival dates of December 14th-18th, and packages were instead appearing on December 24th-27th. Ridiculously frustrating. Nevertheless, here is my Glymm December 2012 review, and I can attest that this month’s box was a much more pleasing – but almost anything was an improvement from November.
Instead of the usual 5 samples, this month featured 4 samples (3 of which were full size), a $10 gift certificate for the Glymm online shop, and a promo code for $20 off any Signature Line subscription at Panty By Post. Panty By Post looks adorable, I’ll admit – it’s a monthly “box” subscription in which, for $15-20/mo, you receive a signature or bridal panty (depending on your Line subscription). I’m very tempted.
As for the $10 Glymm Gift Card, although it cannot be used in conjunction with my Loyalty Reward Points or on subscriptions, the Glymm shop is full of so many goodies that I won’t be hard pressed to spend it. Also, considering I paid only $12.00 CAD for the box, the gift card alone near equalizes the box cost.
Glymm Accessories Cosmetic Bag: For those who read my Glymm Stocking Stuffer review or bought one for themselves, you’ll recognize this gorgeous gold bag. I refused to part with my first one as it’s stunning, but the perks of a second bag is that I can give it to a certain someone who desperately wanted one.
Item Value: $12.00 CAD
Lashem Fake Lashes: Lashem is an American company that aims to provide beauty products made with all natural and high quality materials. These particular mink lashes are quite dramatic, I’ll admit, and do not require additional adhesive for the first application. A definite bonus for people like me who don’t randomly have lash glue kicking around the house. These lashes really are perfect for New Years Eve, and even though I rarely use falsies, 2012 only ends once. Recommended.
Item Value: $5.00 CAD
Lashem Measurable Difference Lash Gel Serum: I’ve never had any problem growing my eyelashes or eyebrows, but considering all the eye makeup I use, it never hurts to condition my poor lashes. The formula is gentle on eyes and weightless – I didn’t even notice I applied it. I cannot speak to its effectiveness as I only used it for 3 days, but my lashes did feel softer. I figure that if you feel you need it and the price doesn’t bother you, why not give it a shot. It seems several reviewers online love this product and its results.
Sample Value: $11.67 CAD for ~0.5 mL (estimated)
Full Size: $70.00 CAD/$69.99 USD for 3 mL
For the December box, Glymm subscribers received either the Suncoat nail polish, nail polish remover gel, or natural nail polish remover. I received the Suncoat Peelable Water-based Nail Polish in Mulberry. Noting how much of a polish freak I am, I alway prefer polishes to other nail care products because while you can never have enough polish (in my opinion), you can have too much polish remover.
I only needed to apply one coat, and the colour really is quite nice. It also has a matte quality to it, which I liked. In the 2 days I wore it without top coat, it didn’t chip, which is fantastic. The product is also made in Canada (which is very important to some Canadian consumers), and the line is apparently vegan. While the latter isn’t too important to me, for those concerned, this is a great product quality.
Also interesting, to remove the polish, I quickly soaked the nail with OPI polish remover then easily peeled the polish right off. Clean and stain-free. Overall, recommended.
Item Value: $9.99 CAD for 8 mL (0.27 oz.)
Glymm subscribers also could receive a variety of different lip and eye care products from Glamorous Cosmetics this month. I received Glamorous Long Stay Lipstick in 09 – Tinkle, a bright, shimmery pink. I’m more of a nude and matte girl when it comes to my lips, but I can wear pink well (fortunately).
As you can see, very bright and very shimmery. Not a bad texture either, and if difficulty to remove it is any indicator of how “long stay” it is, it’s definitely that. I’m not a huge fan, but if you’re looking for something new and reasonably priced, why not give it a try.
Item Value: $8.00 USD/CAD
In full, definitely a nice change from last month and a good variety of products, too. And the box value? $56.66 CAD. Glymm did renew my faith in them this month, so I can only hope January will be as good (or maybe even better).
Happy New Year!
